Northeast Sector
NE 130th St / 32nd Ave NE, (map)
Respondent #11, 5/30/08
(This) location is crossing NE 130th from 32nd Ave NE to get to the Fred Meyer store. Many residents of Seattle Housing Authority units are in wheelchairs or use canes and travel northward on 33rd across NE 130th. They are at risk from speeding cars and cars turning into Fred Meyer and without the crosswalk, not being able to walk as quickly or maneuver wheelchairs quickly, are often "clipped" closely. 900 or more new units of housing will go in on 33rd Ave NE from new LIHI housing to be completed within a year or two, approximately 300 new units on the old AquaDive Pool site, new SHA family housing mid-block, and new Kauri Investments multi-use construction scheduled for the south end of the block. The infrastructure needs to be put in place to meet this expected new growth.
