VISIONS OF URBAN SUSTAINABILITY

"My goal is to make Seattle a greener city. By learning from our peers in cities around the world, we can transform our dream of a higher quality of life here into a reality."

--Peter Steinbrueck

Event:     Noon Public Forum
               Visions of Urban Sustainability:
      Inspiration from Abroad - Action in Seattle!

Date:     Tuesday, January 25, 2005

Time:     12:00pm - 1:30pm

Place:     City Council Chambers, City Hall, 2nd Floor. 600 Fourth Avenue, entrance on Fifth Avenue between James and Cherry.

Cost:     Free and open to the public. No pre-registration necessary. Light refreshments available.

Purpose:     Seattle City Councilmember Peter Steinbrueck invites you to attend a forum on lessons learned from Europe on green building and urban sustainability. The purpose of this forum is to hear from key developers and urban planning professionals who recently toured cities in Denmark and Sweden, what they learned about green building and urban design. The goal of the forum is to learn how new ideas can be applied here in Seattle and to stimulate interest in green building.

Specific ideas to be presented at the forum include:
  • Real-world examples of how green roofs work;
  • The benefits of making bicycles a priority;
  • Innovative drainage technology;
  • Office buildings designed for the future.
