The Transformational Lecture Series aims to inspire all building industry professionals to embrace their role in creating a sustainable built environment now, as well as ensuring that sustainability becomes integral to all development in the future. Working for both equal protection from the perils of climate change and equal access to the promise of the emerging green economy, Green for All provides hope to lift all people and pathways out of poverty by ensuring that low-income and minority youth have access to the coming wave of "green-collar" jobs – things like solar-panel installation, retrofitting buildings that are leaking energy, wastewater reclamation, organic food, materials reuse and recycling. As an advocate for the toughest urban constituencies and causes, Van has won many honors.
