Seattle Housing Levy Renewal

Beginning in 1981, Seattle voters have approved one bond and three levies to create affordable rental and ownership housing. Seattle now has funded over 10,000 units of affordable rental housing for seniors, formerly homeless individuals and families, and low-income residents, plus provided down-payment assistance to more than 500 first-time homebuyers.

With the current Seattle Housing Levy due to expire in December 2009, the Office of Housing is beginning to plan for a levy renewal to be on the ballot in November 2009.

Technical Advisory Committee
A technical advisory committee (TAC) has been convened to provide advice and feedback to the Office of Housing regarding options for funding programs in the 2009 Housing Levy. The committee is a diverse group consisting of nonprofit and for profit housing developers, lenders, service providers, and representatives of business, labor, environmental and philanthropic organizations.
