Human ServicesThe Human Services Department funds and operates programs and services that meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable people in our community — families and individuals with low incomes, children, domestic violence and sexual assault victims, homeless people, seniors, and persons with disabilities. We invest in programs that help people gain independence and success, and work with other City of Seattle departments to support Mayor Greg Nickels’ efforts to build strong families and healthy communities. What's New The City of Seattle, along with our partners, have launched Bank on Seattle - King County to help people who don’t have bank accounts to access affordable financial services including checking, savings, credit, and financial education. The 22 banks and credit unions participating in Bank on Seattle - King County are removing barriers to opening checking and savings accounts. For more information, visit www.EveryoneIsWelcome.org, or call the 2-1-1 (or 1-800-621-4636) Community Information line. "Homelessness in King County" is a report that reflects our most comprehensive analysis of the homeless population to date residing in the King County area and will help to further guide efforts to end homelessness in our community. The DRAFT 2009-2012 City of Seattle Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development is a four-year plan that outlines long-term strategies to address the housing, homeless, community, and economic and human development needs of Seattle’s low- and moderate-income residents. "Who Pays the Price? Youth Involvement in Prostitution in Seattle" is a new report that was commissioned to guide funding and policy decisions, and to help facilitate a more coordinated response to the problem.
