Mayor's Office for Senior Citizens

Volunteer Resource Center

The Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens refers older adults to one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities in the community. Whether you share your time and talent regularly or occasionally, you can make someone’s life brighter. You choose community service work that interests you and hours that are most convenient, and we provide referrals to organizations that meet your needs.

We also refer youth, corporate groups and families to one-on-one volunteer opportunities or events that benefit older people and adults with disabilities.

Nonprofit and community organizations that serve older adults and/or adults with disabilities can submit their Web site information to our Volunteer Resource Center by contacting coordinator Patti-lyn Bell at 206-684-0639 or patricia.bell@seattle.gov

Prospective volunteers are encouraged to fill out the Volunteer Information Form.

Seniors Training Seniors in Technology

The Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens also sponsors computer training for older adults, taught by computer-savvy peers at senior and community centers throughout Seattle. Adults over age 50 can learn very basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel software, photo editing, and e-mail and Internet techniques. Adults over 50 who know computers well and like to teach are encouraged to apply for volunteer instructor positions.

For more information about computer classes for seniors, or to volunteer to teach computer classes, contact coordinator Patti-lyn Bell at 206-684-0639 or patricia.bell@seattle.gov.
