Welcome to summer 2009 at Seattle Parks and Recreation! It's time for wading pools and spray parks, bicycling and the beach, sailing and rowing, exploring the natural wonders that surround us, celebrating at community festivals that bring us together, visiting our gardens at their beautiful best, and just being outside during Seattle's best season--it's how we make it through the winter! We hope you'll join us for lots of exciting new programming in our Center City parks, and for our Second Annual Healthy Parks, Healthy You event on August 22 at Seward Park.

2009 Summer Guide
Are you looking for reasonably priced, quality, fun summer day camps?
Here at Seattle Parks and Recreation we offer high quality programming, consistent care, and well qualified staff, and we welcome all members of the community. Our licensed camps, for kids from Kindergarten through 5th grade, offer enrichment activities in recreation, arts and culture, environmental stewardship, health and fitness, field trips, and more. Our staff work hard to emphasize both community relationships and individual thinking.
Camps run from June 22 through September 4 (there's no program on July 3); the weekly rate is $150, and we accept Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) subsidies.
Go to SPARC here on our home page, then click on "Activities," "Out-of-School Care/Day Camps," and "Childcare - DayCamp - K-5." You can also pick up application forms at your local
community center.
It's busker season!
Busker season is starting in Center City parks! Here's the complete lineup of June busker activities and entertainment, from juggling to music to acts of derring-do!

Fish-Friendly Car Wash Kit Available at Camp Long and Carkeek Park
Car washes can be terrific fundraisers and a great way to build community. But,
did you know that if a car wash is done incorrectly it can hurt local fish and
other wildlife? The soapy water, dirt, and phosphates drain into storm drains
and ditches that lead straight to creeks and into Puget Sound. You can prevent
this harm to wildlife by using the fish-friendly car wash kit. To borrow the
Kit for your next community car wash fundraiser or to find out more about it
call 206-684-7434 at Camp Long or 206-684-0877 at Carkeek Park.
