Replace Lost or Damaged Garbage Cans

You can replace a missing or damaged garbage can online if you:

  • • live in a single-family residence
  • • subscribe to 96 gallons of garbage service or less
  • • do not receive utility rate-assistance
If you do not meet the criteria above, please call SPU Customer Service at (206) 684-3000 to request a replacement can.

You will need your current billing statement to request a replacement can online.


Missing garbage cans
  • • Place your garbage in a trash bag(s) or your own can(s) that are tied and/or secure
  • • Put your garbage out for collection at the normal pickup location.
  • • Allow 5 days for the delivery of your new can.
To avoid extra garbage fees, do not set out more garbage than the service level you subscribe to (Micro -12, Mini - 20, 32, 60 or 90 gallons.)


Damaged garbage cans
Damaged cans have:

  • • holes in the bottom of the can
  • • broken handles
  • • broken wheels that prevent the can from rolling or standing upright
You may use a private can or bag or continue to use the damaged can until your new one is delivered. Allow 5 days for the delivery of your new can.
